Darbak travel journal · Before departure

The visa chapter: start with the right question.

A visa is not just a form—it is permission linked to your passport, destination, dates and reason for travel. Requirements can change, so use this journal as a preparation guide and confirm every detail with the destination embassy, consulate or official immigration portal.

Reading time · 4 minutesChecklist · 6 steps
01

Begin with your passport

Check the passport validity rule and blank-page requirement. Some destinations ask for validity beyond the end of your stay, while others have additional rules for transit or dual nationals. Check the exact rule for the passport you will use.

02

Identify the correct permission

Find out whether your trip needs a visa, e-visa, electronic travel authorization, visa on arrival or only a transit permission. The correct option depends on nationality, destination, length of stay, number of entries and purpose—tourism, business, study or work.

03

Build a clean document folder

Prepare the application form, passport copy, recent photos, accommodation details, itinerary, return or onward ticket, travel insurance and proof of funds if requested. Keep digital and printed copies, and make sure names and dates match across every document.

04

Apply early and track the result

Allow time for appointments, extra-document requests and processing delays. Save the application number, official receipt and contact details. Do not buy non-refundable arrangements until the visa conditions make that safe for you.

05

Use official sources only

Start with the destination’s embassy, consulate or immigration website. Be careful with unofficial agents, outdated social-media posts and promises of guaranteed approval. Fees, processing times and entry rules should be verified before payment.

06

Your final checkpoint

Before departure, check the visa dates, number of entries, permitted stay and any conditions printed on the approval. A visa does not always guarantee entry; border officers may ask for supporting documents.

Darbak travel journal · Travel well

The healthy journey: prepare your body for the road.

Good travel health is mostly preparation and small habits repeated every day. These are general travel tips, not a diagnosis or personal medical plan. Speak with a qualified healthcare professional for advice based on your health, destination and activities.

Reading time · 5 minutesPack · Plan · Protect
01

Before you leave: have a health plan

Check destination health guidance and routine vaccinations with a healthcare professional when appropriate. If you take regular medicine, carry enough for the trip plus a little extra, in original labelled packaging, with a copy of the prescription. Confirm whether your medication is allowed at the destination.

02

On the way: water, rest and movement

Drink safe water regularly, limit excess alcohol, and choose light meals when your schedule is busy. On long flights or road journeys, change position, walk when safe and stretch gently. Sleep, shade and breaks are part of the itinerary—not wasted time.

03

Food and hands: simple protection

Wash or sanitize your hands before eating and after transport stops. Choose food that is thoroughly cooked and served hot, be careful with unpasteurized products, and use safe water for drinking and brushing your teeth when local guidance recommends it.

04

Sun, insects and the local climate

Use sunscreen, sunglasses and breathable clothing in strong sun. Seek shade during the hottest hours and reapply protection as directed. In places with insects, use repellent and cover exposed skin according to local health advice.

05

Carry a small safety kit

Keep hand sanitizer, basic first-aid supplies, prescribed medicine, emergency contacts, insurance information and copies of important documents together. Store emergency numbers and your accommodation address offline in case your phone has no signal.

06

Know when to pause and ask for help

Stop an activity and seek local medical help for serious, worsening or persistent symptoms, breathing difficulty, severe dehydration, confusion, chest pain or a serious injury. In an emergency, contact local emergency services first and tell your travel companion or accommodation host.
